No you don't know what it's like to be like meWhispers in the DarkTo be hurt to feel lost to be left out in the darkYou can't see what lies within yet you tend to reach out and claw around the bend
The storm-hued brute landed quietly on the many moon old stepped ground. Aspen's lyrics entered his audits, thoughtfully the brute, lowered himself so he was sitting..His mug parted and lyrics quickly flooded from his mug, "From my Mother, she taught to me, but she refused to tell me how she knew of it.."Glden, and crimson hued optics filled with sorrow when his mom was mentioned, but he quickly hid it from site, and optics flickered up from the young tom, on to the cats that wer staring at him..Whispers in the Dark shrugged, before turning back to Aspenpaw... "It's really not that hard to do, just make sure you the force you use to push yourself off, is stronger then the one you normally use..And once in the air, move with it,..."

Aspenpaw I listened to the tom, nodding every so often. What he said made sense. It was then I noticed the pain-filled tone of voice that he spoke with when he mentioned his mother. Had she died? Had she left him? That pain, and that simple mention, left so much open for me to ponder. An open secret which was hidden in the dark. Slowly leaning back, I put my weight on my haunches. This made me feel lopsided and unnatural. My front paws slightly off the ground, I leaped. The strength that seemed to flow easily surprised me.
The air hit me full in the face, but I tried not to struggle. Slightly, I wobbled, but it mostly was fine. It was strange still, not something I expected. But was anything ever ordinary? My paws then touched the ground as I completed the arch. Astonished murmurs reached my ears, and I agreed with them. Nothing like that had ever been seen in the Clans. I knew I hadn't reached the great hight that he had, but it was easy to see that I had gone higher than a Clan cat normally would.
Finding my voice at last, I meowed, "How was that?"

Spiritstep emerged from the warriors' den, her endless indigo eyes searching the clearing for her apprentice. She gasped when she spotted him... right next to the prisoner. She padded across the clearing toward them, her beautiful features twisted in caution. Finally, she stood beside Aspenpaw. Tail lashing, she turned to him and spoke in a gentle, melodious voice, her eyes kind. "Aspenpaw. I'm sorry we haven't been getting out much, so I decided we should spend all day training. We'll head over toward the hollow next to the Snake River. Have you eaten?"
She felt the filth's gaze upon her pelt like a sharp prickling sensation, and shot a glare toward the imprisoned tom. She wasn't even sure how he came to be a prisoner, but she hoped Silverstar would get rid of him. Stoneclan had enough to worry about without having to always keep an eye out in their own camp. The tom's rancid scent burned her nose, and it took all her control to keep from gagging. She turned her indigo gaze back to Aspenpaw, waiting for him to answer so they could leave.

I hate everything about youWhispers in the DarkYou hate everything about meI see that the vermin has returned to come and take away the humane A smile spread arcross the storm-hued tom's facade, but faded away when he spotted a she-cat approaching, he sighed, optics hardened with hatred. The she-cat clearly thought of him as nothing mor ethen a stupid mouse. He thought the same as her, as her lyrics rippled through the air, Whispers in the Dark turned towards Aspenpaw, lyrics were low, but could still be heard by the two. "We'll, I guess it's stupid of me to talk to you Aspenpaw, but at least try not to show off to much with that move, you pretty much had it though, kiddo."An affection swipe was sent at the young-tom, before Sun0-hued and crimson optics, twisted onto the she-cat.. Crowfoodwas all that ran through his head as he stared out her, scowl twisted his features..

(Poor Aspenpaw. He may sound wise for his age, but he's still a clueless apprentice most of the time. XD)
Aspenpaw I smiled at the unknown tom as he seemed to approve. The moment of pride, however, was interrupted when my poor mentor-She had been through a lot lately-seemed to show up out of the blue. I listened to her words, shrinking back slightly. Her words had a slightly impatient edge, sharp enough to cut through her kindly intentions. I turned my robin egg gaze onto the tom, then back to Spiritstep. Blinking, I could tell from the way the two adults glared at each other that they were not on friendly terms. But then again, no one, except maybe I, was comfortable with him. I could see he meant us no real harm....Did he?
"I have eaten Spiritstep." I meowed, recalling the half vole I had shared with the tom. Again, could he really be so threatening? Remembering the kind humor that had radiated from his gaze in that moment; No, he couldn't be evil. There was no way he could.
Turning my head toward the tom, I dipped it akwardly. "I guess I'd better go train. Er....Thanks." I meowed. When the tom sent a playful swipe toward me with a sheathed paw, I felt the she-cat warrior stiffen beside me. But he meant no harm! My mind protested. I pushed myself toward the entrance of the camp, confusion sweeping across my face.

It's hard to trust and to depend, When you've been so hurt before. And you think someone's your friend, Until they kill you from your core. I know your tricks, your hidden lies, What you tell to blind. But do I see my Clan's demise, Or something in my mind?
From the indigo optics of ~Spiritstep~ My love and compassion, is shown only to those with a benevolent fashion. Don't hold your breath.
The lifer's temperament toward Aspenpaw was odd, and Spiritstep couldn't help but catch a second glance as she drifted toward the sage-tunnel. Why was he being held captive if he did not promise any harm? But then she remembered his harassment toward her Clan in the last few moons, and slashed the thought aside. It was what ambitious cats did, the ones who wanted power and didn't hesitate to kill for it. They created a mask of serenity and friendship, but used that to get what they wanted. If the lifer wanted to take away her Clan, Spiritstep knew she wouldn't be fooled by his tricks.
She stopped, bringing her head back out of the hole of dark thoughts. They had reached the clearing next to the Snake River. She padded beautifully into the island of glowing yellow flowers, dancing through the petals like she was floating through a golden river. She turned and faced Aspenpaw, nodding for him to come at her.

I followed my mentor, my thoughts still on the loner. With a jolt I realized I did not know his name, yet he knew mine. An anxious look crossed my mind, but I swept it aside. He shouldn't mean any harm! I told myself once more. I followed Spiritstep, shuddering as I cast my gaze over the river. It was where I had discovered the half-dead Stoneclan warrior. I didn't know if she survived; It would have been hard after the near drowning she had recieved.
Turning my thoughts from the hardships of the other Clans, I studied the way Spiritstep was situated. She seemed to be steady, not off-balance. Due to my lack of advanced training, I didn't know any attack to counteract this. Better just to go with the standard leap.
Slowly crouching, I prepared myself to leap. Then, pushing forward, I leaped toward her. By no means did I reach what I had moments before; I had not used my full strength. But no, my blows should at least aim for the face. True, I was not completely focused on my work. But how could I be after what I had been contemplating about?

I am a rose, My beauty serene, A crimson elegance, With thorns you've never seen. I float through the air, Unbelievable splendor, But am I really so fair? In the twilight, surrender.
From the cobalt depths of Spiritstep I will not let you kill, so long as I will.
Aspenpaw leapt at Spiritstep. His technique poorly placed and sloppy, and his eyes seemed elsewhere. She felt a sharp pang of anger. Had her carelessness in training him created a careless apprentice? She would teach him now what she should of when Snowstorm had gone missing, and she'd been lost to grief. If Aspenpaw thought the lifer was a better mentor, she would teach him some respect. She narrowed her navy optics as he came toward her. She would teach Aspenpaw to be the best fighter in the forest, if it was the last thing she did!
She treated Aspenpaw with the same absentmindedness he had put into his attack. She simply leapt aside. Throwing out a sheathed paw that was meant to hit his head and send him spinning into the pool of flowers.

Aspenpaw Watching in dismay as my mentor easily stepped aside, I felt ashamed. Apparently I knew nothing. But how could I? What the loner had taught me just a few minutes ago was about the extent of my fighting training. Spiritstep had been too busy longing for Snowstorm to come back to bother about a young apprentice. I was like a piece of prey tossed aside for a better selection.
The paw easily reached my head, sending my leap off-balance. The blow was not hard; Just enough to make you know it was there. Instead of landing where I should've, I landed on my side out of sight of Spiritstep. Yellow petals were thrown into the air on my impact, then slowly rained down in a bright spiral of soft flowers. A few landed on my cream pelt as I stayed still, slightly winded. But that was not what made me stay. It was something else, something that was bothering me.
Slowly, I rose to my feet. The flower petals floated to the ground as I shook myself lightly. Now breathless and confused, I looked up, locking my gaze on Spiritstep's. I just had to know. Just had to!
"Why did you take me as an apprentice those moons ago, and then ignore me? Why get my hopes up, then crush them by saying, 'Maybe later' each time I asked if we could train? You ignored me, yet I thought you would reconsider. Are you still the same? Are you even the warrior you once were? Do you even WANT me as an apprentice?" I blabbed, voice choaked with pain. It didn't seem fair to me. Others my age could easily pin me in mere heartbeats. Good thing I hadn't been to battle. I would have certainly been slaughtered like prey in heartbeats.

You know not suffering, You know not pain. I may be bluffing, But not in vain. Ignorance comes from the weak-hearted, Those who see not death. When those in love are parted, And one sheds his very last breath.
From the azure tears of ~Spiritstep~ You'll never know pain... unless you share my stain.
'Why did you take me as an apprentice those moons ago, and then ignore me? Why get my hopes up, then crush them by saying, "Maybe later" each time I asked if we could train? You ignored me, yet I thought you would reconsider. Are you still the same? Are you even the warrior you once were? Do you even WANT me as an apprentice?'
Spiritstep felt the words rising from her apprentice like a cruel, burning sun in Greenleaf. Her face fell into a state of expressionless, paws planted firmly upon the golden-hued earth. Her indigo optics stared ahead with so much intensity, it could cut like a knife. Her jaw locked, tail lashing like a blizzard wind, until Aspenpaw finished his last word. A silence blanketed the glowing clearing like a piece of glass in a ray of sunshine. Spiritstep looked down upon her apprentice. Her eyes seemed clouded at first, shedding a single tear. Then they turned sharp like ocean waves in a storm.
"You think I've been ignoring you because I was being selfish," she spat. "YOU THINK I HAD THE CHOICE!? YOU THINK I WANTED SNOWSTORM TO... TO..." Spiritstep's melodious voice turned into a shriek. But she caught herself, and bowed her head. Closing her eyes and taking a breath, she continued in almost a whisper. "When Snowstorm was taken away, the sadness I felt opened up old wounds; brought back old feelings of despair and heartache. So not only did I have to deal with Snowstorm's absence, but I had to struggle under the weight of those old emotions that cut me like claws. "I never meant for you to feel betrayed and neglected, Aspenpaw. Your mentor was simply not strong enough to carry this weight and her apprentice at the same time."
Spiritstep sighed, hoping Aspenpaw would understand. "But now, I think I'm strong enough, Aspenpaw. Strong enough to make you the best warrior in the forest. Strong enough to help you recover those lost moons and name. Hopefully I can teach you to be stronger then me."

To be hurt To feel lost To be left out in the dark To be kicked when you're down To feel like you've been pushed around Whispers in the Dark To be on the edge of breaking down But no one's there to save you No you don't know what it's like Welcome to my life
I know what I need to do I hsall run far so far away
Audits twisted low as he slunk back over to the guard, after the young tom and older she-cat left, pads placed one in front of eachother, slowly, it seemed as though he was really going back to the guards, but last minute, he turned and whipped around with surrising speed. His guards let out surprised mumors, but as they jumped to their pads, the storm-hued tom was already out through the tunnel, and into the fairly open, land. His long tail, was a rudder, his long pillars, a blaze, streaming across the earth, leaping obstacles, far ahead of the guards, but for how long? He was quicker, faster, built for speed, built to run, but he was also broad shoulder, built to fight...Yet he enjoyed running more, which was why he was so lean..Pads flashed wildly across the ground, skull whipped around, not senting the apprentincce or mentor, that were screaming at eachother, Skull lowered againtst the wind now, he barrled forward, ownly stopping as he barreled into the she-cat, wind swept from his lungs as he flew through the air, his lean bod' spinnig, rolling, as he tried to steady himself, hit the ground, and slid a few fox tails..Breath was gone, but he still heaved himself up, a murderous, determined look, locked in his Sun-hued and blood colored optics..Skull flashing around wildly at the guards, the apprentince and the she-cat. This would be fun..

To judge me through sightless eyes, Means you are no better than death. And almost like promising demise, Of someone with a different breath. You think you are superior, Because you are a god. That we are inferior... But that is your greatest facade.
From the midnight glare of ~Spiritstep~ Don't underestimate me, I promise... it will be your last mistake.
Spiritstep hardly finished her last word of kindness and regret to her apprentice. The world broke into a bizarre silence, and Spiritstep felt a chill creep up her spine as she turned her head to look behind her. The lifer hit her square in the back, his unsheathed, frightened claws driven with the force of his speed tore into her back like the strike of a snake. The fall was played in a slow sensation as the ground slowly drifted up into her chest. She let out a single gasp that was cut short as the pressure of the earth drove all air from her lungs. The lifer's weight was horrifically suffocating her as she gasped for the sweet air that drifted past just claw-lengths from her desperate inhalers.
His weight slid from her back, and the lifer landed only briefly upon his side before rising to his paws. Spiritstep swallowed mouthfuls of the sweet wind, as she sprang to her dainty paws that hid deadly weapons. She glared at the tom with cutting eyes like ice. "What are you doing!?" She spat at the tom. "You're free! Why don't you just go and leave us be! We have enough problems without having to worry about a loose rogue hunting us and our friends!"
Spiritstep stood, legs locked. Right now, she felt hate. She hated the tom in-front of her. She hated him for trying to create himself a more appealing friend to her apprentice when she was still weak. She hated him for harassing her Clan and those she loved. And right now, she hated the lifer most of all for attacking her just as she finally confessed and apologized to her beloved apprentice, Aspenpaw. Please go! Please just go and leave us alone!

Aspenpaw I ducked my head, unable to look Spiritstep in the eyes. Of course I knew what she had gone through! How could any cat not? Suddenly, my request sounded stupid. A whiny, spoiled apprentice. I thought sourly, pressing my nose gently into Spiritstep's fur. I closed my eyes, thinking about the apology I was going to give when suddenly, she was gone. Bewildered, I opened my eyes to see the tom, the very same one that taught me, barreling into her side. Ice creeped into my limbs and bones as a threatening growl started up in my throat. My now smooth fur was rising, my ears and whiskers laying back. Slowly I moved forward, lips curled back in a snarl. "Leave her alone!" I cried, my sky-blue eyes narrowing into slits. I was furious; Why had he attacked her for no reason at all? All signs of trust disappeared from me only to be replaced by full-blown fury. About to leap at him, I never got the chance. Some cat, a black one with white hairs randomly placed, beat me to the chance.
Snowstorm The warrior crept forward, eyes locked on a sparrow. It was only claw lengths away now. He had it; It was hiss. Suddenly, a loud yowl split the air, startling the bird. The warrior flung himself forward, letting out a frustrated hiss. Whipping his head around, he searched for what had ruined this easy hunt. No one, however, was around.
Confused, Snowstorm listened harder. Eyes widening into round moon-like shapes, he dashed away toward the sound of the yowl. It was Spiritstep's yowl! Oh don't let her be hurt StarClan! He prayed, bounding forward as he dodged logs, trees, and rocks. He could now see the beautiful she-cat, a growl admitting from her. Her limbs were frozen as she glared at something unseen. An apprentice was beside her, eyes flashing with fury and fear. It was then his nose picked up another scent, this time unknown. A rogue! He thought, leaping forward. The tom crashed down onto the unknown tom's back, his wild hissing aided by his sharp claws that dug into the tom's back.

OOC..he didn't attack her, kinda ran in to her, but it doesn't matter..
This fire rising through my beingWhispers in the Dark.Burning.I can't stop I can't stand still not now Not ever again Pass on and doubt Fall down Struggle up or crawl Flash of ivory and ebonite, pain, sweltering, sweeping through, twisting broken-hearts, reliving the pain.. Claws scathed his storm back, the broad shouldered tom, never did full on attack, only attacked then flashed away, before attacking again, after he wore down his opponent..Audits twisted back even further, and yowl erupted from his mug, sorrowful, pain-filled, something that rose the birds from their nests, and could break the hearts of souls, who'd never knew pain.. Blood stained ivories flashing in the air... Reality hit She was dead The brute was a murder He was empty Nothing to live for Optics, flashed of an empty fire as the tom threw his weight down sideways on the ground..Shaking off the larger tom, that held him.. Whispers in the Dark heaved himself up, Breathe racked his bod', shaking it...He was young. he was wild, he was empty. Skull turned looking away, but the crimson-hued side of his face, was shown, as he looked out into the woods..He could run..Yet he couldn't..Knowning he could outrun the cats, but not for long, he was built for speed, but his lungs couldn't last forever.. All around me Flyleaf.
