Ashrunner padded through the tall trees in Dawnclan. The fresh pine scent cleared his mind, and he paused to observe his surroundings. The soft gushing of the Sky Stream rushed faintly in the distance, and prey scuttled in the undergrowth closer to the border of Dawnclan. Deciding finally which route he would take, Ashrunner stepped carefully towards the Sky Stream. Every muscle in his body ached to stretch, yet he kept his poise and found himself walking into the small clearing to the stream.
Waterstar sat quietly in thought, but soon took a long drink from the cool water. Her calico-like fur shone brightly as the fading rays of late afternoon sun bathed her strong and elegant figure. Her long tail swished from side to side as she stood once again in silence.
The stream ran slowly though their territory, slowly enough the catch a surplus of fish every day. As leaf-bare began to wane, more and more fish had appeared swimming closer to the surface, their gray scales reflecting the sunlight. A cool breeze seemed to circle the area, bringing up dry leaves and carrying them away downstream.
Ashrunner walked quietly towards Waterstar, trying to bring her out of her thoughts slowly and not surprise her. His mood calm, there had been something clawing at him from inside that he had wanted to speak to Waterstar about. It had made no sense, and Ashrunner had not yet confronted Stormdreamer. Perhaps Waterstar would understand, if not, he would voice his thoughts with the medicine cat.

(( Sorry if this makes no sense )) Sootclaw and Frostfur were just flashes of black and white fur as the bolted away from the Mistclan border. Neither said a word as they swiftly darted left and right, avoiding trees( fallen or still standing ) and leaping over stumps and roots. Finally, as the soft gurgle of the Sky Stream reached their ears, the two slowed. Exhausted from their flight, they padded over to the closest stretch of the stream and lapped up the cool, refreshing water. Sootclaw, having drunken his fill, paused to mutter, "Do you think we should tell the Clan about that black rouge?" While patrolling earlier, the brother and sister had stumbled upon a battle between a fierce rouge and a Mistclan patrol, including the leader Cinderstar. The black rouge had almost killed the warrior Brackenstripe, and tried to kill the leader herself. Instead, another Mistclan warrior arrived and frightened the rouge off. They had fled shortly after, not wanting to be caught. Now, they rested together, sharing tongues as they regained their breath. "I don't think we should warn them yet. Not until we now if that cat is a threat to Dawnclan," Frostfur meowed, her voice trembling slightly. Sootclaw nodded, then signaled for Frostfur to be quiet. He swiveled his ears in one direction, then the other. "Come on. I think I hear Waterstar," Sootclaw muttered, rising. Frostfur nodded, and followed him into the little clearing. "Hello Waterstar, Ashrunner," Frostfur purred, with a slight dip of her head as they spotted the two in the clearing. Sootclaw remained silent as he settled down next to Frostfur, copying her acknowledging nod.

Ashrunner came to his senses as Frostfur and Sootclaw greeted him. The deputies white striped fur and the black toms coal coat contrasted from where he sat. But both looked fit and awake. "Hello Frostfur," he nodded towards the she-cat, "Sootclaw," he acknowledged the dark tom. Ashrunner turned to cast a glance towards Waterstar, but turned back towards the deputy and warrior when he saw her smiling slightly.

WaterStar awakened from her dreams. She looked at the cats surrounding her. "AshRunner, FrostFur, and SootClaw how may I help you all," she meowed. Glancing at the water, she saw an image but she couldn't tell what it is. She crouched toward the water looking deeply at the glistening liquid. She saw the face of a black warrior, but she could not put a name to the face.

Ashrunner smiled as Waterstar made her way into reality. It wasn't often that the leader fell into thought so deep, but when they did, something significant would always follow.
He turned to look at Frostfur and Sootclaw who exchanged glances. But he nodded towards them, "I believe they have something to say," whatever he needed to talk to Waterstar about, something uncomprehendible, would have to wait until he was alone with Waterstar.

Sootclaw took a deep breath, more because he needed one after a long sprint than preparing himself. "We were... patroling, when we heard something along the Mistclan border. There was this coal-black rouge, but a Mistclan warrior came with a patrol and scared her off," Sootclaw said, delibertly excluding the more dangerous parts. Frostfur nodded, agreeing with his choice. "We just wanted to warn you. She seemed hostile, but I don't think she is any threat to us," Frostfur added. Frostfur hated lying, so she had to add some truth. Knowing how easy Waterstar could read her deputy, Frostfur rose. "Im heading back to camp. I...might be needed," she said with a shrug as she hurried away from the clearing. Sootclaw, his face unreadable, smiled at Waterstar. "You seem like you just woke up Waterstar. What are you thinking about?" he asked calmy.

WaterStar nodded as FrostFur wpadded away. "I was just thinking about life and the elements in it. It is nothing that would really interest anyone," she meowed. She was really thinking about an empty feeling she always had, because of this almost anything that goes wrong makes her emotional. She really needs this space filled, she doesn't really know why though. She looked at SootClaw, then at AshRunner, "Do either of you know what it feels to have an empty feeling for everypart of your life? Like, as if there is nothing there, that you don't feel strongly about anything?" she asked.

Ashrunner cocked his head puzzled. ALthough he di not understand what the leader was trying to explain, he knew that it wouldn't be the best feeling to have. He exchanged glances quickly with Sootclaw. He hoped this would not be a bad sign towards where Dawnclan was headed.
The only thing to do was shake his head wearily. With that, the conversation wandered and Ashrunner began to head back to camp. Although today had not been the most boring day, the time had seemed to fly in slow motion. Today had been lond and perilous, yet so simple.

Sootclaw watched Ashrunner leave, then turned to Waterstar. "Those are both some deep subjects. I've never felt contuniously empty; just in sad moments. Like when Rustwing died, or whenever Frostfur is upset. Sometimes, when Treepaw misbehaves, I feel like I've failed him, and then feel really empty. Is that what you mean?" he asked.

"Yeah, just it won't stop. I have this feeling of nothing everyminute of everyday," she meowed.

Sootclaw paused, musing. "How long has this been going on for?" he asked kindly, his tail starting a new rythem.

(me too) WaterStar sat down. "I'm not sure how long, it is too long to count. It is a least 4 moons," she meowed. WaterSatr looked a SootClaw, paitently.

WaterStar looked deep into her mind, nothing. She couldn't remember a thing. She was a warrior back then and she was in love. Was is that the love was never carried out, or anything else? See, there was this tom in the Clan she had an enormous crush on him, and then he fell dead during a battle. "I'm not sure, there was this incident, but it couldn't of affected me badly. They didn't even know I existed, and alone love me,' she meowed.
