The sun was high as the silver-pelted she-cat wove her way through the Sunnywood Grove. Deep amber eyes gazed around the clearing, her small muzzle lifted in the air as she searched for a scent of any prey. This area was well known for it's abundance in prey, and Xasia wanted to get some for herself.
The loner looked up suddenly, a frown appearing on her face. Where was Vexor? Her brother had not been far from her only a few moments ago. Maybe looking elsewhere. she thought, flicking her tail after a moment. He was strong; he could take care of himself.
The she-cat's ears perked forward suddenly as she saw moment from the corner of her eye. A daring rabbit darted only a foxlength away. As fast as a snake, the she-cat shot off in pursuit. She could feel the wind in her fur, the earth beneath her feet. Oh to be free! It was such a wonderful thing. The she-cat was almost on the rabbit now. Just a few pawsteps more....
Suddenly the rabbit swerved. Caught off guard, Xasia tried to turn but could not. She went crashing down onto the hard ground below. The she-cat slid onto her side, rolling over for a few heartbeats before coming to a stop. Dazed, she lay there for a few moments with her eyes closed. Mousebrain! she scolded. Suddenly, a small but firm paw was placed on her exposed flank. She could just feel the tips of long, sharp claws scraping the top of her skin.
"Are you okay?" The owner of the paw asked. Xasia looked up to see a small she-cat standing above her. The sun had lit up the stranger's coat, making it shine a brillant and dark red. "Nasty fall there. Hope your aren't hurt." the she-cat stated bluntly. She jerked her head back and cats streamed out from behind her. They surrounded Xasia, their evil-looking eyes fixed on her. The silver loner swallowed; this wasn't good. "Vexor!" she yowled, flinging herself upwards. The red cat cursed as she was caught off guard before leaping onto the loner. The two became a screaming bundle, the yowls and cries echoing in the once peaceful grove. This wasn't a pleasant walk anymore. No, it was a living, breathing nightmare.

Swerving away from his sister, Vexor perused the long tail of a mouse as is slid beneath a patch of leaves. Rising from his haunches, he stared into the leaf pile, his auburn fur slightly rustled by a calm, Greenleaf wind. He thrust his paws into the pile, digging for the mouse's soft, fleshy body, but his claws found nothing but damp leaves. Growling in frustration, Vexor turned his gaze to the sky that shone between the gentle forest branches. Snapping his head in the direction of a soft rustle, his amber-and-green eyes locking upon the frozen shape of a squirrel upon a fallen log. The squirrel's bulging, black eye trembled as she forest grew still. The nut held between it's paws trembled with the squirrel's fear.
Vexor pounced. It became a race. Vexor tore after the squirrel that weaved between bushes and around logs. But Vexor was always one step behind it, and when it attempted to climb, he made a flying leap. With one, powerful paw-swipe, the squirrel went crashing to the earth where it lay still. Vexor padded to the squirrel, but froze as a chilling cry rose from the depths of the Sunnywood Grove.
'Vexor!' Xasia! She's in trouble!
Vexor tore after her cry, leaving the still-warm body of the squirrel behind. He burst into a clearing, then instantly wished he had made a quieter approach. At least four cats had Xasia pinned to the ground, and one blood-colored she-cat stood nearby. Confusion, fear, and anger burned through Vexor as he made a deadly mistake. Yowling, he leapt at the scarlet she-cat, claws unsheathed.

Rose suddenly leaped backwards as the silver loner swung a deadly clawed paw toward her face. The sharp points had just missed her face. At one long hiss, several cats lept forward, eager to fight a battle. All the second had to do was make sure the loner didn't get the best of them. She was actually somewhat impressed; this cat could fight! The she-cat was mesmerized as the silver loner thrashed, landing a paw on one cat's shoulder. The claws dug in, and a wail of pain was released as the BloodGang cat struggled to get free. A sudden yowl made Rose look up. Suddenly, she wished she had seen him sooner.
A large tom, perhaps this 'Vexor' the silver one was calling for, had dashed into the clearing. She watched as fear and anger flashed through his eyes before he dashed toward her. The she-cat took a deep breath as the fighting cats around her seemed to disappear. All that was in this world was her and this unknown tom.
Watching with battle-trained eyes, she tracked his path toward her. One lunge was all she needed. As he sailed toward her, she let loose with a battle cry and reared, slashing with her paws at his exposed face and chest.

Vexor felt piercing claws find their mark. He let out a yowl of pain, loosing his balance and crashing into the dust. He jumped to his paws, turning to face another cat who had come charging in his direction. They both jumped at the same time, but the other cat who was stronger simply swatted him aside. Tasting dirt again, Vexor rose to his paws more slowly. The cat charged again, but this time he jumped on it's back and connected his teeth with its shoulder.

The other cat let out a wail of pain as sharp fangs buried themselves in it's shoulder. The BloodGang tom rolled onto his back, thrashing wildly. It tried to use it's weight to crush the tom, trying to make the pain stop.
Rose narrowed her eyes and bounded forward. Pushing aside one of the cats holding down the she-cat, she lowered her head. The loner let out another wail as she suddenly stilled. The second in command now had her fangs only a few inches from the silver she-cat's throat. "If you want her to live, loner, I suggest you stop." she spat, eyes narrowed in hate.

Vexor felt his breath driven by his lungs as he was crushed beneath the large tom. He continued to fight for breath as he battered the tom with his powerful, hind legs. When cool, crisp air was once again his, he tore a piece of ear off the tom. The tom yowled in pain, landing a heavy blow upon Vexor. He staggered backward, ready to attack when the red she-cat spoke.
'If you want her to live, loner, I suggest you stop.' Vexor froze and turned to look at Xasia beneath the powerful, binding arms. He bowed his head in defeat, padding slowly so he stood only two tail-lengths from the she-cat. "What do you want?" He growled.

Before she spoke, Rose slowly flicked her tail. The BloodGang cats, some bleeding from the scrap, slinked around to form a circle around the two loners and Rose. The second stared at the tom before closing her jaws above the she-cat with a small but firm click. Then, she stood back, allowing the silver she-cat up.
Xasia looked up in surprise and shock as the red cat who she thought was going to kill her backed away as if surrendering. She scrambled to her feet, claws digging into the firm soil as she backed toward her brother. She brushed up against him before burying her muzzle in his soft fur. "Vexor." she muttered, breathing in her dear brother's scent.
Rose watched this exchange with a slightly bored expression. Her eyes turned toward the tom, now calm as if the fight hadn't just happened. "I just want to propose an idea for you and your....companion. I chance at a new life, with cats beside you." She meowed, forcing a smile onto her face.

Vexor narrowed his eyes at the red she-cat as his sister buried her face in his fur. Her wet, pink nose felt good against his roaring blood. He glanced around at the cats now surrounding them. Suspiciously, he turned his amber gaze back to the she-cat. He knew, even if they resisted whatever her offer, they would still have no choice but to accept. He couldn't imagine living a new life with cats who surrounded him in their first visit.
"What kind of life?" He responded, eyes narrowed and voice low.

Rose's smile grew wider as she listened to the tom. The red she-cat stood up and stretched, feeling her muscles loosen even more. She began to pace back and forth, unable to stay still.
"This life," she began, "Offers a change in the boring life that most cats lead. A chance to gain power, friendship, wisdom, and loyalty. Wouldn't you like to be treated with respect by all, rather than just a loner who get's in the way?" she purred, her voice now loud.

Vexor hunched his shoulders as Rose spoke. The life she spoke of sounded too good to be true. Part of him wondered if it could possibly exist, but another part warned that he couldn't trust these cats. Not since he had seen their teeth at his sister's throat. His fierce amber gaze never left Rose as she paced back and fourth. 'Wouldn't you like to be treated with respect by all, rather than just a loner who get's in the way?'
When she finished, she set him with a questioning stare. He let his gaze burn into hers. He raised his head and stared at her with defiance, stretching his neck from his shoulders to make him appear taller. "And what if we refuse?"

Rose turned her head away from the tom, gazing off calmly into the shadowed part of the forest. All seemed calm with her, but beneath the surface she was boiling with rage. How could she be treated as such by loners? She, a powerful she-cat who was second only to Seth, the greatest cat in the forest!
"What if we refuse?" Rose let the question hang in the air for a few moments before she turned her cold amber gaze back toward the tom. Locking eyes with him, she smiled evily. Her sharp claws extended them, the blood-stained points digging into the soil. "Let's just say the meeting won't be as friendly as the first." she meowed, the words holding a touch of a growl.

'Let's just say the meeting won't be as friendly as the first.'
That confirmed it. Vexor had been right. They had no real say in the decision. They had been set up. Placed on the already moving path of joining these cats. He narrowed his eyes further, his pupils becoming slits of thoughts. If they joined these cats, it would probably make the experience of joining them more peaceful. If they refused, they would be forced to join anyway. If they decided to run, they would have nowhere to hide. But what if joining put Xasia in danger? He looked sadly upon his sister, his best friend.
It didn't matter what happened to him. He has her brother, her protector. He had to ensure her safety. Even if it meant putting himself in danger, and suffering a wrath. He had to protect his only family. He looked at Rose with hatred. Their life had been peaceful and safe until she came along. He couldn't allow Xasia to be put under their eyes of death.
Vexor lowered his chin and licked his sister's forehead. It was the perfect disguise for whispering in her ear. "Xasia. Run. Find help."
Vexor whipped around and sprang at Rose. The other cats leapt forward to help their leader, creating a passage for Xasia to escape... if she chose to. Vexor spread wide his arms like snapping jaws, unsheathing his long, white claws. I don't matter! I must protect Xasia!

'Xasia. Run. Find help.'
The silver cat whipped her head toward Vexor, about to protest. She couldn't leave him alone, she just couldn't! But she didn't have a choice. It was both of them die, or her try to get help before Vexor was killed. Her yellow eyes narrowed; her muscles tensed. None noticed her now.
Watching Vexor sail into the air and the rogues drawing together, Xasia shot off like a flash toward the forest. The she-cat heard a faint yowl of surprise, but she ignored it. Get help. Get help. This was the phrase that pushed her, the one that gave her body the endless energy she needed. All she could see was the territory in front of her; the rest was a blur. Running as fast as she could, she streaked into Clan territory, letting out a loud screech to alert all to her presence. ----- Rose's eyes now flashed with burning rage as the tom sailed toward her, his claws aiming for her throat. A snarl left her jaws as she slashed at his face and his front. She would not let this project fail. These cats were as good as her's.

Despite his air of surprise, Rose lashed out with barbed claws. Vexor felt a searing pain erupt across his muzzle and chest, and as he landed hard on his side with a sickening "thud", around him rained scarlet droplets of his own blood. The ground pushed all air from his chest, and he gasped for breath as he watched Xasia's silver tail disappear into the bushes. As air inflated his lungs, Vexor could do nothing but stare up into the furious eyes of the red she-cat. One of his paws was twisted at a nauseating angle. He tried to move it, but suffered a surge of sharp pain. He gritted his teeth as two of the cats angrily stalked up to their leader, heads bowed in respect.
"Rose, the silver she-cat... she got away; into Clan territory. We didn't follow her because Seth said the Clans cannot know of our presence." The two looked at Vexor like he was a vile piece of crow-food. Vexor tried to glare back, but his face was twisted in pain. Using only one of his front paws, he staggered upward and began to limp rapidly away. Claws seared into his haunches, roughly dragging him back to Rose-s paws. He didn't fight back. He felt as if his strength had been drained away. Powerful paws were laid on his back, crushing him down into the earth. Vexor landed on his broken paw, and gave out a small whimper of pain. He felt Rose's amber gaze upon his back, as he lay, pinned, at her paws.
Vexor could do nothing but wait for her to speak.

The red she-cat merely stared at her followers for a moment. All was quiet; All prey had been chased away by the fight and the wind had stopped blowing. Suddenly, Rose lashed out at the nearest cat's face, her lightning quick reflexes scoring a hit across his face. The tom yowled in pain and stumbled backward, scarlet droplets of blood running onto the ground from his wounds. Rose's other follower watched in fear as she leaped toward his fallen comrade, her eyes blazing. The wounded BloodGang cat whimpered in fear as blood-stained claws were put against his neck. The tips dug in slightly, fresh blood running over him. Rose stood over the tom, her eyes bright with a raging fire of fury. "You follow her," She hissed, "And don't come back until you have her! Otherwise," she meowed, pressing her claws into his flesh a little deeper. The tom nodded slightly, his eyes wide with fear. "Go." Rose hissed, letting the tom up. The ebony-pelted cat shot off, throwing a look of fear over his shoulder as he did so.
Rose turned back to her remaining group member, watching him coldly as he swiftly dipped his head in respect. Cold amber eyes filled with hate as they met the loner tom's eyes. "Drag him back to camp." she meowed, watching as the BloodGang cat began to drag Vexor back toward BloodGang camp. She soon followed, not looking back at the forest of the Clans. --------------- The tom slunk into the forest, shaking the blood from his wounds out of his sight. He could feel the scratches burning like fire on his fact, but he had to ignore them. If he didn't succeed, he would be killed. The tom lifted his head, a questioning look in his eyes. Where was the silver she-cat?
A yowl came from the bushes beside him suddenly, causing him to turn quickly. A silver flash was heading toward him, sharp claws extended. He began to rear up but it was too late. The she-cat was upon him, knocking him roughly to the ground. Letting out a yowl of pain as her fangs buried themselves in his shoulder, he froze as he felt her slide one claw along the length of his belly. Just the tip dragged along the surface, marking the place where a death blow could be dealt. Then, one claw was placed on his throat, causing him to swallow violently. Xasia lowered her head, her maw even with the tom's ragged ear. "Both places where death can swallow up life." she whispered. The she-cat then moved her mouth to hover above the tom's neck. She could hear his breath quicken as she picked up his throat in her jaws. Xasia could feel his panicked pulse quicken even more as she closed her mouth slightly on the warm throat of the tom. Then she stopped. Could she really do this?
Noticing the pressure on his windpipe stop, the BloodGang tom took this last chance to do some damage before he died. "Rose killed him. Your companion is dead." he hissed, a raspy laughter curling into the air.
"You're wrong!" Xasia growled, her eyes narrowing in a desperate anger. She could do this! The she-cat then bit down as hard as she could, feeling the salty blood of his throat filling her mouth. There was a final gasp from the tom, then nothing.
Xasia let the tom's head fall to the ground, her eyes filling with pain. Vexor was dead? "No." she whispered, shaking violently. It felt as if her world was gone, torn to pieces by the cruel cats of the BloodGang. Without realizing it, she fell onto her side, the world going black as she fell unconsious beside the dead BloodGang tom.
