"What exactly... happened?" Alley asked, her voice cracking slightly. She took a moment to rein in her emotion. "I mean, why are you so injured? Did another cat attack you, did a dog or two-leg...?" she trailed off, hoping Sell got the point. ((Sorry it's short. Im tired and cranky and just got back from a softball game, like, half an hour ago ))

The tabby's eyes clouded as she remembered the attack. She thought back to it, lying back slightly to be a bit more comfortable.
Shell padded along near the mountains, looking at the beautiful mountain. All the smells were so fresh, the stream trickled from the peaks, the scent of alpine grasses and flowers was strong in the air and the scents of other cats were faint. Good, peace. Apart from that smell... she frowned, then stopped in her tracks, totally freezing as a rustle came from in the bushes. She looked round and saw a tall cat step out. They didn't look too friendly... Then suddenly burning pain. Shell was no fighter, all she could do was run. And that was what she did, for a second or two. Then the cat caught up with her, bowling her over and slashing her with their long claws. Shell yowled in pain and struggled to be free, the confusion and strange smells making it hard to tell anything about the cat. Shell felt the blood leaking out, making her feel giddy. Then the cat looked round and fled, as another three cats stepped out of the bushes. Shell stood up and staggered away, flashing a grateful glance at them before she stumbled away into the forest. Making her way quickly towards the barn, she constantly looked round, alert, in case the cat came back. The door loomed in front of her, causing a sigh of relief to come from Shell. Almost falling through the door, she dragged herself towards the hay, but didn't quite make it. Collapsing on the floor in a pool of blood, the world began to spin. Then, here was nothing...
Shell looked at Alley then at her paws, and meowed. "I was by the mountain, a cat attacked me, but some others scared it away. I came to the barn... then collapsed really." Sighing, she returned her gaze to Alley and waited for what she would say. Why did she ask, did she know something Alley didn't?

Alley's eyes grew wide. "That's horrible! Why would they just attack you? You never did anything to them did you?" she whispered. Now, the idea of living in the soft, warm barn was more than inviting. Where did the Alley I know go? The advernterous one; the one always fighting. What happened to her? a voice in her head asked. "Match?" she whispered, to silent for even her own ears. The reason she was even still out here in the first place hit her. She still had to find Match. Was he still in the two-leg place? Had he escaped? She thought, sighing. "Who were the other cats that scared your attacker away? Do you know?" she asked curiously.

Shell lowered her head, then frowned. "No... I didn't see them for long. I think there was a tabby, a brown one and, well I didn't see the other really." Shrugging, the she-cat stretched out her legs, which were still aching, but felt better. Looking round hungrily, she wondered when she'd be able to hunt for herself again. It was nice of Alley to hunt for her, but she was stubborn and she admitted it herself, so the urge to catch her own prey pressed down. Shakily, Shell rose to her paws, then started to walk steadily down. She'd learnt that if you'd hurt yourself, you needed to excersise the injured part to help it get stronger. So, she pottered round, scenting the air and avoiding the prey so as not to scare it away.

Alley was shocked to see Shell stager to her feet, sniffing around. "Are you sure you want to be moving? Those are some serious injuries," she asked, jumping to her feet. She trotted up to the she-cat's side, then slowly backed up. She saw that stuborn glint in Shell's eyes; she had seen it in her own reflection. So, instead, she stayed a tail-length behind, watching her patient carefully, staying silent so Shell could hunt.

Shell looked round, grinning as her green-amber eyes shimmered. Then she turned round, dropping into an uneven hunting crouch. She'd never been that great at hunting or fighting, and this wound made her worse. Oh well... I'll just have to get better. She thought detirminedly, her keen orbs searching the barn for prey.
It only took her a few seconds to locate her prey. Sinking down and trying to correct her stance - although it made her wince, the tabby cat drew herself forward towards the unexpecting mouse. Then, she took a leap. But the movement made her shoulder sear with pain. Because of the pain, she landed with a heavy thump on the wrong side of the rodent and rolled over, hissing. Her shoulder no longer hurt, but she'd missed her prey. Shell stood up and shook herself, then padded back to Alley. "Sorry Alley, I'm just useless." She mewed bitterly, cross with herself.
(Can we fast-forward so shes a bit better? Able to go outside and stuff...)

(Mmm kaa. *hits fast-forward button*) "I don't mind..." Alley sighed. She watched Shell with intrest. Maybe the wounds were better than they looked... 'cause I can't possibly be that good, she thought, gently correcting Shell's stance. I think we'll get along...~*~*~ Alley blinked as the dawn brought the sun's first rays. She rose and stretched, yawning. Glancing around, she didn't see any of the loner's she'd meet in the half-moon of living in the barn. The smell of hay and mouse hit her nose, reminding her of breakfast. She sighed, realizing how fat she'd gotten. Still, Alley slunk forward, eager for her prey. She spotted it, nibbling on a seed underneath a hay stack. Slowly, she slunk closer until she gave a mighty leap, killing the surprised mouse. As she sat down to eat, her mind wandered. You can't stay here forever, you know. There's still Match to find... a voice whispered to her. She sighed, staring at her mouse. She knew she could stay, but... it was just not her nature to take to easy way, to just hope Match would show up. She needed to take action, and soon. Leaving her mouse, she went searchign for her good friend Shell. It was about time for a check-up.

Shell crouched under the bush, her eyes focused on the little creature that sniffed in the grass. She felt full of life; so much better than she had done. Her wounds no longer hurt, the hours of sitting and doing nothing had made her restless so getting out and doing so much hunting was great. In a quick leap, she landed on the rabbit and killed it in a swift blow.

"You seemed to be doing much better," Alley purred, coming up beside her. She dropped the limp mouse off to the side and looked at Shell. "I don't think I need to worry about you any more," she laughed. Shell seemed so much stronger than the state Alley found her in. "How do you feel?" she asked, making herself comfortable. She turned her head and waved her tail in greeting to a loner who was also hunting. He waved back, then went back to his prey. A soft sigh escaped her muzzle, but she turned back to Shell smiling.

Shell swivelled her head to look at Alley, a purr echoing in her throat. "Thanks." She mewed, her thick fur baking her in the NewLeaf heat. "I feel alot better, and I think my wounds are just about healed up. The scratches that are left don't hurt anymore, and I feel like I have all the energy in the world!" Shell bounced round in a circle, stretching as she did.
Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. Her wounds had healed without much trouble, prey was running well, and it was a beautiful day. All was peaceful, for now at least. But theres something wrong. Its there, real deep. What is it?

Alley laughed as Shell hopped around in a circle. "That's great to hear!" she purred. Her eyes wandered around the little field outside the barn. It was alive with prey and a cat or two hunting it. She looked up at the large faded red that had become her home in the past moon or so. "Do you plan to stay here, Shell?" she asked suddenly, still looking up at the beaten barn. Her tail flicked thoughtfully behind her. What will it be like, to return to the hardships of the forest after all the love and prey I've found here?
(Now we move on to 'I chime in...')
